The Teenage Tutor The Teenage Tutor

About Us

Hi! My name is Alex, I am the original Teenage Tutor!

Founded in 2018, The Teenage Tutor is Kent’s original student-led tutoring company. While we are rooted in the Sevenoaks community, our reputation for academic excellence, professionalism, and relatability has grown far beyond this. Over the last seven years, we have helped over 600 students across the UK and internationally, including pupils as far afield as Portugal and Dubai. Currently, we have around 50 tutors on our team, and some have been tutoring for us since the very beginning!

We work on a pay-as-you-go and non-commitment basis which is different from a lot of other tuition companies who require block bookings. This means our timings are flexible, which is great for families who are busy with a multitude of after-school commitments.

Our Reputation

The success of The Teenage Tutor has been built almost entirely through word of mouth, with families returning year after year and recommending our tutors to others. We maintain a long waiting list and are proud of the academic and personal progress our students consistently achieve.

We understand that value matters to families. While we don’t compete on price alone, our growing waiting list reflects how much families appreciate the outcomes, confidence, and care we consistently deliver. Our goal is simple: to bridge the gap where schools can’t always reach, and to do so with a level of understanding and relatability that truly makes a difference.

SERVICES

The Teenage Tutor is a Sevenoaks based tuition agency with a large team of student tutors who are available to help younger pupils prepare for exams.

Our core offering is one-to-one tuition for all ages. We support students from primary school through to Sixth Form, tailoring every lesson to suit your child’s individual learning style, pace, and academic goals. Across the team, we cover most subjects, including maths, sciences, humanities, and languages, as well as specialist preparation for the 11+ and 13+ entrance tests.

Our ‘Study Buddy’ arrangement allows your child to be paired with a tutor and to arrange ad hoc lessons as and when a topic arises that they would like additional support with. Our tutors are happy to help your child complete homework tasks or essays either via video call lessons or via email support.

Our popular 11+ workshops are designed to give students a confident, strategic approach to their first formal exam experience. The workshop is ideal for students approaching their entrance assessments, offering both practical skills and reassurance in a supportive, engaging environment. During the two-hour session, we cover all four key 11+ disciplines (English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning), focusing on the most common question types, time-saving techniques, and how to manage exam-day nerves. We take care to make the session feel relaxed and enjoyable, and snacks are always provided!

While we cannot promise results, many of our previous attendees have successfully passed the 11+ following these sessions, and families consistently report increased confidence and improved test performance after attending.

This service is led by Kieran Duncan, our Deputy Head Tutor and Group Workshop Lead. These workshops normally take place in person in Otford.

TESTIMONIALS

Here is what our clients have to say about our service!

Dominic (Jun 2025)

Liv has been amazing and has really helped my son get to the position where he is likely to pass his maths and perform at the level he wanted. She is a brilliant tutor.

Amanda (May 2025)

My son has been using The Teenage Tutor for both Maths and Physics A level since the beginning of 6th form. He has really enjoyed his lessons and feels a lot more confident going into his exams now.

Kathy (May 2025)

I just wanted to say how much my son has got out of being tutored by someone so much closer in age to himself, with similar interests.

FAQS

We understand that getting tuition can be confusing. So we have answered some of the frequently asked questions below!

All lessons are delivered online, so your child will need access to a laptop or desktop computer with a stable internet connection. We use Tutorcrunchers' video platform to provide our lessons, with screensharing and interactive whiteboard tools to ensure that our classes are engaging. Tutors often email resources or worksheets in advance.
Please note: Recording of lessons is not allowed under any circumstances.

Yes, we always try our best to accommodate requests for a tutor of a specific gender. However, we can’t guarantee this due to the high demand for our services.

Once your child is matched with a Teenage Tutor, we expect that they will continue with them for the rest of the academic year. However, there is no long-term commitment beyond each booked session (see our cancellation policy).

Occasionally, a tutor may need to step away due to personal reasons. In such cases, we will always give you as much notice as possible and find a suitable replacement.
